A Message from Melissa
I grew up on a ranch, where meals were made from scratch and food was something we grew, gathered, and shared. Nutrition wasn’t a trend, it was just part of life. Food meant comfort, connection, and community. It meant sticky fingers, laughter at the table, and moments that brought people together.
But like many, that connection shifted somewhere along the way. In high school, diet culture crept in. Suddenly, food was something to control, not enjoy. I swapped out nourishing, joyful meals for calorie counting and restriction. The comfort I once felt around food disappeared, and my relationship with eating spiraled into guilt, confusion, and overwhelm.
I know I’m not alone in that experience. So many of us have lost touch with food, not just what to eat, but how to feel about it. We've been told to fear it, manipulate it, or earn it. But I believe we deserve something different. Something better.
Over the years, I’ve done the work to rebuild trust with food and with my body, and now, I help others do the same. Through education, lived experience, and deep curiosity, I’ve shaped Melissa’s Holistic Kitchen as a space for real, compassionate support. A place where wellness isn’t about perfection, but about connection, nourishment, and finding what works for you.
Here, we explore the many ways food can support your mind, your gut, your energy, and your mood. We’ll talk about the messy stuff. The real-life stuff. And we’ll keep it simple, approachable, and doable. You’ll find whole food recipes, honest conversations, and resources to support your unique wellness journey—without restriction, shame, or one-size-fits-all advice.
I’m so glad you’re here. Let’s reconnect with food, with our bodies, and with what it means to feel good, truly good, again.
With warmth,
Melissa :)
